Utilising Paramedics in alternative urgent care environments is fast becoming a probable and effective solution to consider for many managers, Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG) and NHS Sustainability and Transformation Plans (STPs).
Evidence already supports the successful trials and audited impact of the Nurse Led Minor Illness Clinics under the Working in Partnership Programme. (see below)
Currently, only a small percentage of Paramedics have experience of working in GP practices, Walk in Centres, Minor Injury Units or Out of Hours. Most of these are ECP’s already qualified in minor illness & injury and working under agency contracts or direct employment.
